NEW YORK: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has condemned thedeadly Pulwama attack in Occupied Kashmir and rebuffed India’s efforts toimplicate Pakistan.
Despite heavy Indian efforts to implicate Pakistan the UNSC statement didnot mention Pakistan, rejecting baseless Indian accusations against thecountry.
The UN body statement stated that The members of the Security Councilcondemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly suicide bombingin occupied Kashmir, which resulted in over 40 Indian paramilitary forcesdead and dozens wounded on February 14, 2019 …,”
The statement added that “The members of the Security Council underlinedthe need to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of thesereprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice, andurged all States, in accordance with their obligations under internationallaw and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively withthe Government of India and all other relevant authorities in this regard.”
The statement added that the Security Council members reaffirmed thatterrorism in all its forms also constitutes serious threats tointernational peace and security.
India has faced failure on multiple occasions after it has mounted adiplomatic offensive to isolate Pakistan in the international community.
Pakistan has also strongly condemned the continuing attacks on Kashmiris inthe aftermath of the Pulwama attack including Kashmiri students beingsystemically targeted in India as the state authorities stay complicit andinactive.
