Indian Police arrests several resistance leaders in Srinagar

SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested several resistanceleaders and activists in Srinagar today.

They were participating in a protest rally against the rape and murder ofan eight-year-old girl in Kathua district of Jammu region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of Hurriyat leaders andactivists assembled at Aabi Guzar in Srinagar and tried to take out therally towards Lal Chowk under the banner of Joint Resistance Leadership.

The Indian police took action against them and took Muhammad Yasin Malikand other Hurriyat leaders in custody.

Earlier, Muhammad Yasin Malik spoke at a press conference, which was alsoaddressed by Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq telephonically.

The resistance leaders during the press conference extended full support tothe Jammu Muslims in their demand for justice to the minor girl. Theresistance leaders expressed full solidarity with the Muslims of Jammuregion.

On the other hand, the High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir at ameeting of its Executive Committee in Srinagar has condemned the harassmentof the members of Gujjar Bakarwal community by Hindu extremists in HeeraNagar area for raising their voice against the rape and murder of AasifaBano.

The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, MerajuddinSaleh, and other speakers while addressing a party meeting in Srinagarurged India to give up its rigid stance over the Kashmir dispute.

Meanwhile, an Indian soldier was injured after some unidentified personsopened fire on the troops when they launched a cordon and search operationat Paribal in Hajin area of Bandipora district.
