*LAHORE – The Joint Investigation team formed to probe the Sahiwalencounter has recorded statements of the CTD officials.*
*As per the sources, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel, arrestedfor their involvement in the Sahiwal encounter, have failed to give anyevidence in support of their claims to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).*
Sources informed that CTD personnel failed to provide the JIT formed toprobe the Sahiwal shootout – which left four including a minor dead – withintelligence reports, which according to CTD’s statements, led thecounter-terrorism agency to chase and shoot down the unfortunate family.
It was learnt that the arrested CTD personnel could not provide videorecordings and data of the WhatsApp calls, which they said, was the basisfor them to carry out the operation.
According to sources, the JIT recorded the statements of the CTD teamseparately, and stark contradictions were observed in the statement of 7personnel, including Safdar Hussain, the in-charge of the attacking policeparty.
Sources also informed that the JIT has obtained call recordings of all CTDpersonnel involved in Saturday’s shootout, whereas their bank accounts arealso being checked for any suspicious transactions.
Earlier it was reported that Sub-Inspector (SI) Safdar Hussain led the CTDteam, whereas Ahsan, Muhammad Ramzan, Saifullah and Hasnain Akbar were alsopresent in the team.
