LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday did not appearbefore the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) combined investigationteam (CIT) in connection with an alleged graft in a housing scheme.
The anti-corruption watchdog had issued a notice to Punjab Chief MinisterShehbaz Sharif asking him to appear before a combined investigation team(CIT) on January 22 (Monday) in connection with an alleged graft in ahousing scheme.
The NAB asked Shehbaz Sharif to answer queries in response to NAB’s claimthat his alleged misuse of authority resulted in loss of approximately Rs1billion in a housing colony project.
The Punjab CM also completed consultation his legal experts.
On Sunday while inaugurating the project of Bab-e-Pakistan in Lahore,Shehbaz Sharif vowed to expose the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)before masses with facts.
“The NAB has never summoned those whose money embezzlement is well-knownfrom Karachi to Gilgit and Baltistan,” he said pointing towards formerpresident Asif Ali Zardari. This project will be built on 117 acres at acost of more than four billion rupees.
The CM said it was not yet decided whether he would honor the NAB with hisvisit or not. Head of the institution, who sent him notice for constructinga road up to ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s house, should tell if hehad no road near his house, he asked.
Shehbaz Sharif will hold a press conference at his residence in Model today.
