MULTAN: Punjab government has decided to establish Disabled Person's Management Information System (DPMIS) to resolve matters pertaining to special persons .
The new DPMIS would be a wing of Social Welfare Department.
According to official sources here on Tuesday, as many as 93 posts have been sanctioned for this new wing and a director would be head of the wing located at Lahore.
The District Officer Social Welfare Muhammad Ahmed Chishti informed that the new disability wing would facilitate in collecting information about special persons. Good policies for special persons could only be formulated when department has complete data of the special persons, he added.
Chairperson Society for Special Persons Zahida Hameed, lauding Punjab government, termed it a revolutionary step. She also assured of complete cooperation towards the new wing of social welfare department. Sufferings of disabled would surely reduce, she said adding that it would offer more opportunities towards the special persons and make them useful and productive citizens of state.
