HYDERABAD: (APP) Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, A. D. Khwaja, has called upon close liaison between police and traders to ensure better planning for the maintenance of law and order and redressal of issues encountered by business community.
Addressing a meeting at Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries here on Monday, he directed officials concerned to form liaison committees at the earliest to improve coordination between police and business community.
He also stressed the need for coordination among police officials for ensuring effective policing.
The IGP directed that all inactive 15-police centers be made operational. He also called for the utilisation of new vehicles and motorcycles being handed over to local police.
On the demand of traders, the IGP instructed the SSP Hyderabad to set up a police post in the industrial area on the site identified by the chamber and ensured that required resourced would be provided for the purpose.
Responding to a query, he said a multi-pronged strategy has been evolved to ensure transparency in procurement, posting and other issues, adding that measures for capacity building of police were also being taken which include enhancement of operational capacity and training on modern lines.
Deliberating on traffic problems in urban centers, the IGP said that measures were being taken to improve the situation and around six thousand personnel were being inducted in traffic police in Karachi.
He lauded the efforts of SSP Hyderabad Irfan Baloch for maintenance of law and order in the district.
He said that a comprehensive security plan has been envisaged to maintain law and order during the holy month of Ramzan throughout the province.
Earlier, HCSTSI President Haji Akran Ansari in his welcome address said that police and traders have a close relation with regard to law and order and traders of Hyderabad are ready to extend their cooperation for maintenance of peace and tranquility in the city.
Chairman Law and Order committee of HCSTSI, Nadeem Siddique presented charter of demand and urged the provincial police chief to take immediate steps for traffic management, immediate registration of FIRs of traders, setting up police check post in industrial area, making visa verification easier for traders and resolving the issue of lengthy checking by police officials of the frieght of local traders.
