Iranian female students held protests in front of Indian embassy in Tehran against hijab ban in India

A large number of students held a protest demonstration in front of the Indian embassy in Iran's capital city, Tehran against the ban on head Hijab in Indian state Karnataka colleges and schools.

According to the Kashmir media service, the protesters called upon the Iranian authorities to issue a statement and take measures against the hijab diktat of the Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Karnataka state government, which has been campaigning for a Uniform Civil Code across the country.

The Iranian students, who participated in the rally, described the new head Hijab restrictions as discriminatory against Muslims in India and called it a violation of the basic human right to freedom of clothing.

The protesters demonstrate that the right to choose one's attire and clothing is an important part of freedom of expression guaranteed under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, of which India is a signatory.
