Security Forces Eliminate 13 Terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operations

ISLAMABAD: Security forces conducted two separate intelligence-basedoperations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, resulting in the eliminationof 13 terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in astatement.

In the first operation carried out in Paharkhel area of Lakki Marwatdistrict, security forces and law-enforcement agencies engaged a group ofarmed militants in an intense exchange of fire.

The military’s media wing confirmed that 10 terrorists were killed duringthe operation while a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered fromtheir possession.

In a second operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, security personnelneutralised three more terrorists who were reportedly planning subversiveactivities.

According to ISPR, the slain militants in DI Khan were actively involved inattacks against security forces, law-enforcement agencies and civilians inthe region.

The group was allegedly receiving foreign support for carrying outterrorist activities across the province, the statement added.

Such operations reflect the continued resolve of security forces toeradicate the menace of terrorism from Pakistani soil, ISPR emphasised.

Local administration officials said sanitation of the areas was beingcarried out to ensure no explosives or accomplices remained.

The recent surge in terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa andBalochistan has prompted intensified counter-terrorism efforts by the armedforces.
