US mulls pulling back military brigade from the foreign base: Report

MOSCOW – The United Stateslink isconsidering pulling out a considerable chunk of its military personnel fromlink South Korealink if the Asianlink country refuses toincrease spending on maintenance military bases by five times, Chosun Ilboreported on Thursday.

“The US is preparing to withdraw one brigade if negotiations with SouthKorea link do notprogress link accordingto President Donald Trumplink hopes,” adiplomatic Washingtonlink source toldthe SouthKorean link newspaper.

The report comes days after talks on defense cooperation between theUS and SouthKorea link were cutshort for unspecified reasons, with neither side making any officialcomment on the matter.

The diplomatic source added that Trumplink maylink be looking for anexcuse to pull US troops as part of a retrenchment of global domination.

Earlier reports suggested that the US has been waging a pressure campaignto force South Korealink and Japanlink to increaseexpenditures on upkeep of military bases by up to 500 percent. In Junelink, US conservative hawkJohn Bolton visited the two allies while still serving as national securityadviser, with reports claiming his demands were refused by both nations.

The US army link maintainover 28,000 troops in South Korealink and is obligedby law to keep at least 22,000 on the peninsula at alllink times, which means some6,000 soldiers may link bewithdrawn from link bases.
