Pakistan ranked at 116 position in the international corruption perception index

ISLAMABAD – NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal Wednesday said theNational Accountability Bureau (NAB) had devised a comprehensive strategyto completely eradicate the menace of corruption from roots.

Justice Javed Iqbal, in a statement, the elimination of corruption was notonly NAB’s national duty but also the top most priority.He said NAB has expedited its efforts to nab the proclaimed offenderswhereas corrupt elements involved in mega corruption cases would be draggedin the dock.He said NAB was investigating different cases on priority basis includingcheating people, committing bank fraud and default, abuse of authority,money laundering and looting national exchequer.He said NAB has devised an effective method of conducting complaintverifications, inquiries and investigations of corruption cases by usingcollective wisdom of its supervisory staff. This has improved theperformance of NAB, besides blocking influence on investigations of NAB.He said NAB has established a fully equipped digital forensic laboratory,having the facility of analyzing various documents and finger prints, saida press release.

He said Transparency International has ranked Pakistan 116th position incorruption perception index. NAB occupying the position of role model inSouth Asian country due to effective anti corruption measures, which isgreat success of the country.He said Transparency International, Independent National and InternationalWatchdog, Pildat and recent Gallup survey and International Economic Forumhave lauded Pakistan’s efforts of corruption elimination.

He said NAB was the first chairman of South Asian Association forRegional Cooperation (SAARC) Anti Corruption Forum, which is a greatachievement. NAB has also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) withChina for cooperating in anti corruption endeavours. This agreement willhelp building mutual confidence in the context of ongoing projects of ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said.He said NAB was planning to ink such another MoU with Malaysia afterapproval of the government.
