Four matches played by Pakistan against England, South Africa had elements of fixing, new revelations made

DOHA – Four matches played by Pakistan against Engalnd and South Africa in2012 were allegedly fixed or spot fixed, new revelations have been made.

Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit has uncovered evidence of corruption at thehighest levels of international cricket.

According to the Al-Jazeera TV, It appears to involve two dozen fixes in 15international matches.

The evidence, from 2011 and 2012, points to a small group of Englandplayers allegedly carrying out spot-fixes in seven matches; Australiaplayers in five matches; Pakistan players in three, with players from otherteams carrying out spot-fixes in one match. In some cases, both teamsappear to have delivered a fix.

Spot-fixes affect just a small part of the game and do not determine theoverall result.

Al Jazeera has obtained purported recordings of a match-fixer calling inthe fixes to a notorious Indian bookmaker linked to the organised crime. Heis unaware that the recordings were leaked.

The matches in which fixes were allegedly carried out include Englandversus India at Lord’s Cricket Ground, South Africa versus Australia inCape Town and several matches during England’s series against Pakistan inthe United Arab Emirates (UAE).
