ISLAMABAD – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is all set tohold the annual coordination meeting for the foreign ministers of themember states as well as the meeting of the contact groups to discuss thedevelopments and issues of the Muslim world, on the sidelines the UnitedNations General Assembly session starting on September 25, 2018.
The Secretary General of the OIC Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen along with ahigh-level delegation is travelling to New York to participate in the UNGAsession, said a press release received here Friday.
The agenda of the secretary general during the UNGA is full of bilateralmeetings with heads of state, foreign ministers and other senior officialsfrom the member states and non-member states as well as international andregional organisations.Al-Othaimeen is also expected to attend high-level meetings on Yemen, Syriaand the Sahel region.
On the sidelines of the UNGA, the OIC will hold its annual coordinationmeeting for the foreign ministers of the member states on September 28during which they would discuss the developments in the Muslim world andissues of concern especially in Palestine and regarding terrorism andIslamophobia and the Muslim communities in the world.
The OIC will also hold its contact group meetings at the level of foreignministers on Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, Yemen, the aggression of Armeniaagainst Azerbaijan, Mali, Sierra Leone, the Rohingya, Bosnia andHerzegovina as well as on Muslims in Europe and the first meeting onFriends of Mediation.
The organization in collaboration with Saudi Arabia organising a high-levelevent on the situation of Rohingya Minority of Myanmar. – APP
