RAWALPINDI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court (SATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against 14 individuals, including Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, and Kanwal Shozab, in connection with 12 cases stemming from the May 9 incidents, including the GHQ attack case. The court has directed that the accused be arrested and produced in court on September 3.
The court rejected applications seeking exemption from appearance submitted by the accused. At the hearing, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and the accused’s legal representatives were present. The lawyers had requested exemptions on behalf of the 14 individuals, but the prosecution argued that these accused had already been convicted by courts in Faisalabad and Lahore and were now absconding. The prosecution further contended that despite being granted bail, the accused had failed to appear, and their bail should therefore be canceled.
Agreeing with the prosecution’s arguments, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against all 14 individuals.
