*Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday contacted PrimeMinister Shehbaz Sharif to talk about relief and rescue operations in theflood-affected areas, especially in Sindh. *
According to details, the COAS contacted PM Shehbaz Sharif as well as theChairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to talk about rescueand relief operations in multiple areas of the country.
The PM ordered to provide helicopters in areas with damaged bridges androads. Helicopters would help carry out rescue operations in affectedareas. Commander Southern Commad has been ordered to monitor operations inBalochistan, the COAS told the PM.
The PM also ordered the BISP to issue financial aid for flood-affectedpeople. Chairman NDMA informed the PM about relief operations in Sindh. ThePM ordered to fasten the operations in affected areas.
On August 20, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa calledCommander Balochistan Corps and directed him to assist provincialgovernment in rescue and relief operations during floods.
According to the ISPR, the army chief directed the Balochistan Corpscommander to get an update on the flood situation and undertake allmeasures to assist the provincial Balochistan for rescue, relief andrehabilitation efforts on an emergency basis in coordination with the civiladministration.
