ISLAMABAD – 25 new Power Projects to add 12,464 MW of electricity toNational Grid across Pakistan.
25 new power projects by Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are underconstruction in various parts of the country and will add up to 12,464megawatts of electricity to the national grid by 2028.
The state-run news agency, APP reported this, quoting sources within thePower Infrastructure Board (PPIB).
The board was set up in 1994 to promote private investments in the powersector. Later, PPIB was converted into a statutory organization through thePrivate Power and Infrastructure Board Act 2012 (Act VI of 2012).
The report said that the power infrastructure board facilitated theseprojects over the years, some of them will commence operations from thecurrent year.——————————
Year-wise completion details of these power projects is given below:
2020: The 1263 MW RLNG project near Trimmu Barrage Jhang will be ready by2020.
2021: Five more projects with a cumulative capacity of 2047 MW will comeinto line by 2021. These include two 330 MW Thar coal power plants, another660 MW Thar coal power plant, 7.08 MW Riali-II hydropower, and 720 MW KarotHydropower.

2022: Four more projects generating 2160 MW will be completed by 2022.These are 330 MW Thar coal, 1320 MW Thar coal, 870 MW Suki Kinarihydropower, and a 300 MW imported coal power plant.
2023: A project with a total capacity of 1980 MW is scheduled to be addedto the national grid.——————————
2024-28: 1,124 MW of power will be added to the grid by 2024, 1,172 MW in2026, and 1,710 MW in 2028.

– 700MW Azad Pattan hydropower – 1,124MW Kohala hydropower – 300MW Ashkot hydropower – 640MW Mahl hydropower – 450MW Athmuqam hydropower – 82MW Turtonas-Uzghor hydropower – 163MW Grange Power Limited
