Aerial lockdown: Pakistan suspends all incoming international flights to the country

ISLAMABAD – In an Aerial lockdown, Pakistan suspends all incominginternational flights to the country.

The government on Saturday announced that all incoming internationalflights to Pakistan will remain suspended for the next two weeks in orderto prevent further coronavirus infections from foreign arrivals.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Coordination Committeechaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Special Assistant to the PrimeMinister on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf announced at a pressconference.

Yusuf said Pakistan had last week placed the condition on internationalpassengers arriving in Pakistan to bring with them a negative coronaviruscertification.

However, in view of the current situation, a “difficult” decision was takento ban all incoming international flights to Pakistan, starting at 8pm onSaturday (today), for two weeks until 8pm on April 4, the SAPM added.

The restriction will apply to all passenger, charter and private flights.However, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be allowed to bringback its planes which are already abroad.

The suspension of flights will also not apply to diplomats and cargoflights.
