Maryam Nawaz s unique response over the verdict of SC disqualifying Nawaz Sharif

*LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz hasreacted over the decision of the Supreme Court against former PM NawazSharif.*

*She on Wednesday started a social media campaign after a Supreme Courtverdict declared her father Main Nawaz Sharif ineligible to head thepolitical party*.

The decision has come as a big set back to the ruling party as Nawaz Sharifafter losing the Premiereship has now lost the party president slot too.

The daughter of former prime minister and his rumoured “heir-apparent”started the campaign by changing her profile picture and replacing it witha picture of Nawaz Sharif with *‘Main Bhee Nawaz Hoon’* (I too am Nawaz)written in the background.

The series of three tweets, seen as her first reaction to the courtverdict, Maryam Nawaz said that the decision which declared her fatherineligible to head a political party is actually his victory as the topinstitutions of justice “have given proofs of his innocence andtruthfulness”.

Earlier in the day, Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that a disqualifiedperson cannot become a party president, a judgement which directlyaffected ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as it was being led byformer PM Nawaz Sharif despite a July 2017 verdict declaring him ineligibleto hold public office under Article 62, 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The verdict adds that all steps taken, orders passed, directions given anddocuments issued by Nawaz Sharif as party head after his disqualificationin July last year are also declared to have never been taken, passed, givenor issued in the eyes of the law.

The court also directed Election Commission of Pakistan to remove NawazSharif’s name as President/Party Head of Pakistan Muslim League (N) fromall relevant records.

Before Maryam Nawaz, other PML-N leaders too criticised the judgement andreiterated that Nawaz Sharif will continue to lead PML-N and “no courtjudgement can stop the party from seeking guidance from Nawaz”.

“Nawaz Sharif is our leader and a court judgement can’t affect our will toseek guidance from him and struggle under his leadership,” Punjab LawMinister Rana Sanaullah told ARY News.

Sanaullah was of the view that he will be better equipped to comment uponthe decision once the court issues a detailed judgement but thinks thatsuch court judgments don’t have retrospective effect so Nawaz Sharif’sdecision as PML-N head won’t be effected.
