The Proteas ex-skipper and middle-order batsman Faf du Plessis said thathis experience of visiting Pakistan as ICC World XI skipper played amassive role in South Africa’s decision to play red-ball cricket in thecountry.
In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) the star playersaid that,
“That ICC World XI tour was the first step to bring any sort of cricketback and I think what they did really well at that stage was to bringplayers from all around the world to come and play and to see that thesecurity levels were going to be very, very good and it gave players peaceof mind,”
“I was captaining that team so for me to go back into South Africa, andthen speak of my experiences that I felt safe in Pakistan was a huge tip-inwhere we are today.”
He further added to his statement that,
“That is one thing I did not see happening in my time. I knew white-ballcricket was happening here, but I did not know that the red-ball cricketwas going to happen this soon, “
“I am looking forward to it and I hope that it is the same as it was 13years ago the wickets are flat so we the batters can score some runs.”
The first test match between Pakistan and South Africa is starting on 26thJanuary while the second test match will be played on 4th February.
