*ISLAMABAD – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information andBroadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government has decided toprovide relief to farmers by providing affordable fertilizers.*
In a tweet, the SAPM said that in order to provide affordable fertilizer tothe farmers, the government has given a relief of Rs400 per sack to thefertilizer factories for gas. The tax on gas supply has been reduced fromRs405 to only Rs5.
The SAPM added that the government’s relief will lead to the development offarmers and agriculture in the country. “Development of farmers andagriculture is the development of Pakistan,” she said.

The development comes after the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) ofthe Cabinet has decided to allow import of 0.3 million tons of wheat tobring down its prices in the local market, subsequent to reported shortageof wheat that led to escalation of flour prices in the country.
The wheat import would be allowed till March 31, 2020 to ensure that localwheat that will be available from the start of April is picked up at rightprice from the market.
The meeting also issued instructions for immediate release of stocks heldby the PASSCO and the provincial departments.
