Kashmiri leaders health deteriorate in Indian Jails

ISLAMABAD – In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed seriousconcern over the deteriorating health of many Kashmiri political prisonerslodged in different jails of the territory and India.

A JI spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that the jail authoritieswere harassing the Kashmiri detainees and even relatives coming to see themwere ill-treated. He said that under-trial prisoners were not timelypresented before the courts. He maintained that delay in trial tantamountto denial of justice but all Kashmiri political detainees are facing thisinjustice at the hands of the authorities of prisons.

The spokesman appealed to the world human rights organizations to takecognizance of the inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiri prisoners andhelp in their release.
