Future wars to be fought in Cyber Domain: Indian Army Chief

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat today said there is a need to focus onincorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data computing into thearmed forces’ system, saying the northern adversary of the country (China)is spending “huge money” on this technology.

Addressing the valedictory function of the National Conference on “SelfReliance in Defence Manufacturing” in Hyderabad, he said rapid advances intechnology necessitated incorporation of the industrial sector into defencemanufacturing.

It is important to start understanding the relevance of AI and Big Datacomputing and how to incorporate this into the defence system, he said.

“Our adversary on the northern border (China) is spending huge amounts ofmoney on Artificial Intelligence and cyber warfare.

We cannot be left behind. It is time for us to also focus on AI and on BigData Analytics rather than just keeping it confined to mere definitions,”the army chief said.
