Al Azizya Reference appeal: IHC heard the NAB petition against Nawaz Sharif

*ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday heard the appealagainst PM Nawaz Sharif in Al Azizya reference.*

*IHC issued notices to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the NationalAccountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Azizia reference.*

The bench comprising of Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin AkhtarKiyani will hear the appeals. The *NAB* has demanded an increase in theseven-year jail of Nawaz Sharif in the All-Azizia reference.

In another appeal, it stated that the acquittal of Nawaz Sharif in theFlagship reference is not justified.

Nawaz Sharif has filed a petition seeking suspension of his sentence tillverdict on the appeal. The court has summoned the record of Al-Azizia andFlagship references. Justice Amir Farooq remarked that they are notseparating the appeal and the petition for suspension of sentence.

Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris remarked that his client is not the realowner of the assets, but he had been sentenced. He stated that theaccountability court announced the verdict on the JIT report.

He prayed to court the sentence suspension plea first. The court adjournedthe case for three weeks.
