Former cricket captain Shahid Afridi has strongly denied recent claims made by a local media channel, which suggested that he is advocating for Shaheen Shah to lead the Pakistan cricket team in the near future. During a recent interview with "Samaa News," Shahid Afridi expressed his frustration with the circulation of misleading information.
He clarified that he was scrolling through his Twitter feed and noticed that some statements were being attributed to him, stating that he believes Shaheen Shah could lead a better team than Babar Azam, and that Lahore Qalandars won the PSL trophy under his captaincy.
Former all-rounder Afridi expressed his confusion and doubt about how statements are presented in the media. He mentioned, "I don't understand why they are saying such things when I share my thoughts about Shaheen in my own way. I have my own perspective on Shaheen, but they interpret it their way. I am the only one who keeps Shaheen away from captaincy."
It's worth noting that specific local media outlets may be emphasizing the claim that Shahis Afridi could take on the role of vice-captain in the One Day and T20 teams, but there is no concrete evidence for this as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any formal announcements regarding this matter
