The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has recently compiled a fresh list of 144 election symbols, which have been allocated to various political parties.
These 144 election symbols were distributed among the officially registered political parties, and notably, the election symbol of a 'Cricket bat' was added to the list, specifically for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).Additionally, a total of 188 election symbols were reserved for independent candidates who are not affiliated with any political party.
The ECP has taken the step of sending this revised list to the district election commissioners with a clear directive to ensure a fair and level playing field for all political parties involved in the electoral process.
In a related development, the ECP had recently suspended the registration of a political party that failed to submit its financial statement, emphasizing the importance of financial transparency for political entities.
Furthermore, the Election Commission had earlier announced a deadline for freezing voter lists across the country, with the process set to officially cease on October 25. This action effectively halts the registration, correction, and transfer of voters, as stated by ECP spokesperson Haroon Khan Shinwari.
