KARACHI: Pushing further the already oppressed people, the Oil Tanker Contractors Association (OTCA) has on Friday halted the supply of oil in Punjab against 16 percent sales tax.
The Oil Tanker Contractors Association spokesman said that the Punjab government failed to fulfill its promise and the provincial government is responsible for the strike.
The provinces had levied sales tax on services of inter-city transportation or carriage of goods by road. Punjab demanded the tax to be recovered on the basis of destination of the transport carriage while Sindh sought to fix the point of origination as base of tax collection.
Since imposition of sales tax on services, the Oil Tanker Contractors Associations (OTCA) called off several strikes.
