ISLAMABAD, (APP): How many PhDs Pakistan produced in last 5 years
Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman said Thursday a total of 61,899 MS/M.Phil students had completed degree from Universities registered with Higher Education Commission (HEC) across the country during the last five years.
While there are a total of 5,621 PhD students who completed degree during the same period, the minister said in reply to a question to the Senate.
He said the HEC had not granted NOC to any public sector university for imparting and academics programme in science and technology in collaboration with international foreign university or institution.
However, he added, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) do have collaborations with their foreign counter-parts for promotion of teaching and research including faculty and students exchanges, joint research, curriculum development support etc.
To another question, he said currently there were 454 posts in different of grades lying vacant in National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).
As per the instructions of the Establishment Division, until the Service Rules are not framed and approved by the government these posts cannot be advertised, he added.
A draft of Service Rules 2016 was placed before the commission in its meeting held on April 13, 2016 and the approval was under way.
