Process begins for Rs 1,000 billion development programme for erstwhile FATA

ISLAMABAD - Consultative process on the federal government’s ten year development plan for the tribal districts has been launched in Bajaur tribal district.

The first meeting of the three-week consultative process was held in Nawagai area on Wednesday.

Tribal elders, political and social activists and business community leaders attended the meeting.

Senior officials of the district administration and government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa planning and development department ware also in attendance the the meeting.

Officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s planning and Development department, the Chief Minister secretariat and UNDP briefed the participants about the purpose of the consultative meeting.

The participants said the event was aimed at seeking suggestions and feedback of people on the federal government ten year development plan for the tribal districts.

According to the plan, the representatives of KP government and UNDP said that 100 billion rupees will be spent on development of tribal districts every year.
