SUKKUR: (APP) Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated 196th Urs celebration of Hazrat Sachal Sarmast on Monday.
The three-day Urs began at Daraza Sharif in Gambat town of Khairpur district.
Caretaker of the shrine washed the tomb and formally announced commencement of the Urs celebrations.
Sindh government has announced a public holiday on the eve. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah along with his advisor on Auqaf and Religious Affairs Dr. Abdul Qayoom Soomro laid a floral wreath at the Mazar.
Followers of Hazrat Sachal Sain reached the shrine from all parts of the province to attend the Urs.
Hazrat Sachal Sarmast was born in 1739 at Daraza, the former State of Khairpur. His poetry collections are available in many languages including Urdu, Sindhi, Arabic, Persian, and Saraeki. He was recognized as a mystic poet of seven languages.
Talking to reporters outside the shrine, Sindh Qaim said that he had taken notice of video leak pertaining to Dr Asim and has ordered independent probe into the matter.
He also denied rumours that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had decided to replace important ministers in the Sindh government with new ones.
He said that Suhail Anwar Siyal will remain Home Minister of Sindh.
