Senate passes resolution recognizing sacrifices of paramedical staff against Covid-19 July 20, 2020

ISLAMABAD-Senate resumed its session at Parliament House in Islamabad today (Monday) with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair.

The House offered Fateha for the departed soul of former Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Sardar Muhammad Aslam.

The Senate today passed a resolution recognizing the efforts and personal sacrifices of Doctors and paramedical staff fighting on the frontlines against Covid-19.

The resolution moved by Mohsin Aziz commended the invaluable contribution of Doctors and paramedical staff in combating this pandemic amid increased medical risks and unprecedented work load of treating huge number of patients.

Responding to a motion moved by Senator Mohsin Aziz in the House, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said the government will strengthen Competition Commission of Pakistan to provide relief to the public.

He said government is taking all measures to curtail monopoly of business tycoons.

He said despite limited resources CCP has performed well since 2007 by holding inquiries and imposing penalties on cartelization in various sectors.

Those who participated in the discussion included; Mian Ateeq Sheikh, Usman Khan Kakar and Sirajul Haq. 

Two bills were introduced in the Senate today.

These include; The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

The Senate today passed the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 unanimously seeking increase of seats in Balochistan Assembly.

The motion to this effect was moved by Senator Naseebullah Bazai.

The bill was moved keeping in view the large areas of constituencies in Balochistan province.
