Pakistani scientists discover new genes in fungus for skin disease cure

MULTAN (APP): Scientists of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan have discovered new genes in local fungus which they believed would be helpful in curing skin diseases caused by this fungus.

According to an official release, issued by BZU Multan spokesman, Dr Syed Aun Muhammad of BZU Multan Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and four others including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Babar, Dr. Muhammad Imran Qadir, Dr. Syed Bilal Hussain and Muhammad Zafar, who were the part of the team of scientists, had discovered the new genes.

The newly discovered genes have been got registered with the Gene Bank of National Centre for Biotechnology Information, an international organization, under the registration number 'KX557291-3'.

The genes would prove to be important in curing skin diseases caused by the local fungus, it concluded.
