ISLAMABAD (APP): Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said Tuesday that grid stations were being upgraded in Balochistan to achieve target of 1500 MW power production in the province by next year.
Speaking in the Senate during question hour, he said these stations were being upgraded under the directives of the prime minister.
He said as a result of depreciated transmission lines the possible current production in the province stood 800 MW, adding work was also underway to control the line losses.
Answering another question, he said the government was committed to complete Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project at the earliest and hopefully it would start power generation by the end of next year.
He also said that the cost of the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project had gone upto Rs 450 billion.
