PM Imran Khan held emergency contact with UN Chief

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has telephoned United NationsSecretary-General Antonio Guterres to express his “deep shock and concern”at the ongoing situation in Indian occupied Kashmir.

A statement by the PM Office on Thursday said the premier expressed hisconcerns at the ‘grave human rights violations by Indian security forces’and underscored UN’s role to end these violations.ADVERTISING

The telephonic contact comes days after Guterres strongly condemned thekillings of innocent civilians at the hands of Indian security forces inIndian occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama area which has become a new battlefieldbetween oppressed civilians and armed troops.

In a fresh wave of violence, at least seven civilians were killed whileover three dozen were left injured when Indian forces fired at protestersin Pulwama over the weekend sparking concerns in Pakistan and the globalcommunity.

Residents accuse troops of directly spraying gunfire into the crowds.
