ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the AirStaff of Pakistan Air Force, holds the first-ever high-level meeting withhis Bangladeshi counterpart Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan in Dubai,marking a significant thaw in military relations between the two countries.
The meeting focus on defence cooperation, exchange of experiences andprofessional training programmes.
In a major development, Bangladesh Air Force had requested Pakistan totrain its pilots and technical personnel. Both sides agreed in principlethat Pakistani instructors will conduct specialised courses for Bangladeshiaircrew in fighter conversion, aerial tactics and maintenance disciplines.
The breakthrough comes months after quiet diplomatic exchanges that beganlast year. Defence analysts view the engagement as part of broader regionalrealignment and mutual interest in enhancing air force capabilities throughshared expertise.
Official circles in Islamabad confirmed that training modules will befinalised soon and the first batch of Bangladeshi pilots is expected toarrive at Pakistani training establishments within the current fiscal year.
The meeting assumes symbolic importance as it is the first visit by aserving Pakistan Air Force chief to Bangladesh since the 1971 war that ledto the creation of the latter as an independent state.
Both air chiefs expressed satisfaction over the outcome and pledged toexpand cooperation in cyber defence, drone technology and joint exercisesin the coming years.
