ISLAMABAD – Toyota has launched the Yaris Cross in Thailand in a bid to tapinto the crossover SUV trend. Interestingly, this particular model had beenavailable in the European market since 2018. Currently in Thailand, it hasthree variants Entry, Mid and High.Exterior
It would be safe to say that the Cross is basically a Yaris that had agrowth spurt and is on stilts. It has front and rear faux skid plates andhefty fenders all around to give it an off-road feel but don’t be fooled,it is still an on-road car.
However, it has higher ground clearance, as compared to the normal Yaris,by over an inch due to new springs and dampers on it. Completing the lookare glossy-black 15-inch alloy rims, blacked-out roof, and side mirrorsalong with door handles done in chrome, and a smart entry system.
It is fitted with front and rear cameras that have recording functions; itboasts projector headlamps that are automated along with daytime runninglights and LED fog lamps incorporated into the bumper.Interior
Both the Yaris Cross and the normal Yaris have similar interiors along witha 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and 7 airbags. The steering wheelhas multiple controls integrated into it along with a 4.2-inch TFT drivinginformation display.
The seating at the back can be folded down to a 60:40 ratio and areadjustable. There is a clamping protection mechanism at the driver-sideelectric window.Engine
The Yaris Cross is powered by a 1.2-liter 3NR-FXE engine that churns out109 Nm of torque and 92hp coupled with a Continuously Variable Transmission(CVT). It is pertinent to point out that it is a front-wheel-drive and theengine is in line with the ecocar II rules along with an electricallycontrolled variable valve system.Price & Availability

– Entry 539,000 baht (Rs. 2.8 million) – Mid 589,000 baht (Rs. 3.0 million) – High 649,000 baht (Rs. 3.35 million)
According to rumors, we won’t be seeing the car in Pakistan in the nearfuture despite the fact that it’s more suited to the roads here.
