NEW DELHI: The relations between the Indian Army and civilian government have soared, sources have revealed.
Indian government and the military have reportedly entered a tiff on Saturday over reinstatement of the army official who was suspended following attack on brigade headquarters in Baramulla District on September 11 killing at least 19 troops.
Narendra Modi-led government has summoned an explanation from the military for appointment of the suspended official as commander of infantry brigade.
The ministry has expressed reservation over the reinstatement before completion of the probe being led by National Investigation Agency (NIA). Indian government has asked the military to explain the ‘favour’ given to the suspended brigadier.
Sources have reported that the armyman was liable to approach court against the military if he was found innocent and a commander could not be suspended without evidence.
Earlier today, Brigadier Somashanker was reinstated as commander of 61 Infantry Brigade.
The military man was serving as the commander under whose watch Uri attack was executed in a pre-dawn strike by terrorists.
