RIYADH – Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz has issued directives to set up aministerial committee under the chairmanship of Crown Prince Muhammad BinSalman, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence, to restructure thecountry’s intelligence agency.
According to Saudi official news agency, the directives were issued on therecommendations submitted by the Crown Prince to King Salman for the urgentneed to restructure the General Intelligence Presidency and update itsregulations.
The Saudi King also ordered to sack Deputy President of GeneralIntelligence, Ahmed Bin Hassan Bin Muhammad Assiri and Advisor at the RoyalCourt, Saud Bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani from their posts besides terminatingseveral other officers over Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi issue.
On the other hand, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi KingSalman bin Abdulaziz have discussed the journalist Jamal Khashoggi issue ontelephone.
The two leaders agreed on the importance of full cooperation so that theinvestigation proceeds smoothly.
