Former cricket captain Shahid Afridi has strongly denied recent claims madeby a local media channel, which suggested that he is advocating for ShaheenShah to lead the Pakistan cricket team in the near future. During a recentinterview with “Samaa News,” Shahid Afridi expressed his frustration withthe circulation of misleading information.
He clarified that he was scrolling through his Twitter feed and noticedthat some statements were being attributed to him, stating that he believesShaheen Shah could lead a better team than Babar Azam, and that LahoreQalandars won the PSL trophy under his captaincy.
Former all-rounder Afridi expressed his confusion and doubt about howstatements are presented in the media. He mentioned, “I don’t understandwhy they are saying such things when I share my thoughts about Shaheen inmy own way. I have my own perspective on Shaheen, but they interpret ittheir way. I am the only one who keeps Shaheen away from captaincy.”
It’s worth noting that specific local media outlets may be emphasizing theclaim that Shahis Afridi could take on the role of vice-captain in the OneDay and T20 teams, but there is no concrete evidence for this as thePakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any formal announcementsregarding this matter
