CAA installs New flight safety systems at main Pakistani Airports

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has taken proactive measures toenhance flight safety within the country’s airports by implementing a birdrepellent system. PCAA officials have outlined their plan to deploy thissystem at key aviation hubs, including Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahoreairports, with the primary objective of mitigating the risks associatedwith bird strikes during aircraft operations.

In pursuit of this initiative, the aviation regulator has issued a call forExpression of Interest (EOI) from reputable firms and individuals withexpertise in wildlife management, particularly in the context of airportenvironments. These selected parties will be responsible for conducting acomprehensive feasibility assessment to determine the practicality andeffectiveness of implementing the bird repellent system.

Sources suggest that the official tendering process for this crucialproject is scheduled to commence on September 28. Within the PCAA, there isa consensus that initiating this system at Lahore airport in the initialphase will mark a significant step towards reducing the frequency of birdstrikes and enhancing overall aviation safety.

To address the specific threat posed by birds, the system will bestrategically installed on both the primary and secondary runways ofKarachi and Lahore airports, ensuring comprehensive coverage and protectionagainst bird-related incidents. This comprehensive approach demonstratesthe PCAA’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviationsafety within Pakistan’s airspace
