ISLAMABAD – Deposed Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif was caught lying tothe nation yet again.

He on Monday said that he used to pay the daily expenses of the PM Housefrom his own pocket. However the federal budget and the governmentexpenditure reciepts for the last five years show otherwise.

The incarcerated Sharif appeared before the accountability court for thehearing of the Al Azizia and Flagship corruption references. Speaking tothe media, Sharif said that he paid the day-today expense of the PM housefrom his own pocket and had the cheques as proof, local media reported.

Sharif was referring to PM Imran Khan’s speech on Sunday in which he hadlisted down the expenses of the PM house during Sharif’s tenure. In hisaddress PM Khan had revealed that the PM house has 524 servants and 80cars, 33 bulletproof cars.

During today’s corruption hearing headed by Judge Arshad Malik, Sharif’scounsel Khawaja Haris pleaded the judge t to allow him to cross-examine thekey witness Wajid Zia. The court accepted his request and summoned Ziaon August 27.

Sharif has been accused in the two remaining corruptionreferences-Al-Azizia and Flagship, filed by the National AccountabilityBureau after the Panama Papers revelation. He is already convicted in theAvenfield reference and has been sentenced to 10 years in jail along with afine of £8 million by accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir.
