MUMBAI: Indian companies get the worst blow over matches cancellations inICC World Cup Matches.
Indian insurance companies stand to lose Rs 1500-1800 million due to matchcancellations following rains during three of the International CricketCouncil’s (ICC’s) World Cup matches in the UK.
The claims are for losses to television broadcasters, who have already paidICC for broadcast rights and have now lost on advertising revenue.
The sum insured for an ordinary match would be around Rs 600 million. Butfor special matches like finals or semi-finals, this would go up to Rs700-800 million, according to Indian insurance industry sources .
In the case of the India-Pakistan match, which is considered an extremelyhigh-viewership event, it could touch Rs 1250 million.
