ISLAMABAD: At least 16 people, including women, were arrested by the policefor taking part in an alleged dance party and drinking in public at anupscale mall in the capital early on Tuesday morning, local media *reported*link>.
The Margalla police said that the security staff at the Centaurus Mallinformed them of a gathering of a large number of men and women in anapartment located on the 21’st floor of the mall’s building where they wereallegedly drinking and dancing to loud music.
Police said they immediately dispatched a squad which included women policeofficers. When they reached the mall, officers claimed they found severalyoung men and women allegedly drunk and indulging in ‘obscene and vulgar’acts.
The police then arrested a total of 10 men and six women from the spot andtook them to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where theywere administered the alcohol consumption tests.
These detainees were then booked under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs)of the Pakistan Penal Code.
