SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of CivilSociety and Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons have urged UnitedNations to establish a commission to investigate brutal torture by Indianforces in the territory.
In their report, JKCCS and APDP focused on Indian state terrorism inoccupied Kashmir since 1990, and provide a contextual understanding ofvarious phases of torture being perpetrated in Jammu and Kashmir since 1947.
The report also urged India to ratify U.N. Convention against torture andalso allow global right groups unhindered access to Kashmir.
Former U.N. special rapporteur on torture, Juan E. Mendz said the reportwould help draw attention to the need to express concern about India’shuman rights record.
