ISLAMABAD – Bangladesh has halted issuing visas to Pakistani nationals, adiplomatic source told Daily Pakistan on Monday.
According to the official, Bangladeshi diplomat, named Iqbal Hossainapplied to Pakistan’s Home Ministry to extend the tenure of his visa. But,the authorities of Pakistan denied it. In the wake of denial of his visaextension, Bangladesh took such a decision immediately.
Hossain submitted his application in January last, he added.
Similarly, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry sent the proposed nomination of itsproposed envoy Saqlain Syedah to Bangladesh in March 2018. Bangladesh hasyet to respond to the appointment, reported The Daily Star, a localBangladeshi newspaper.
Last year, Bangladesh hanged Islamist party leaders including Motiur RahmanNizami, 73, for alleged genocide and other crimes committed during the 1971war of independence.
In reply, Pakistan’s parliament has issued condemnations and passedresolutions against the hanging of these war criminals on severaloccasions, Bangladesh considers this an interference in its internalaffairs.
Pakistan foreign office didn’t issue any statement on this issue so far.
