Black Day observed in Occupied Kashmir on arrival of PM Modi in valley

SRINAGAR – Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control held protestdemonstrations against the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit toOccupied Kashmir.

Prime Minister Modi visited Srinagar today to inaugurate Kishan Ganga Dam .

In occupied Kashmir, black day, marked by complete shutdown, was observed,today, in protest against the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visitto the territory.

All shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was offthe road. Call for the strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadershipcomprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

They had also asked people to march towards the historic Lal Chowk ofSrinagar to register their resentment against the Indian Prime Minister’svisit. However, the puppet authorities resorted to imposition of strictrestrictions in Srinagar and detention of Hurriyat leaders to prevent themarch.

Srinagar and other towns of the occupied territory gave a deserted look andat some places people had hoisted black flags on the rooftops of theirhouses and at vantage points.

The authorities sealed all roads leading to Lal Chowk and deployed Indiantroops and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and all other majortowns of the occupied territory.

Despite restrictions, Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Imtiaz AhmedReshi and Ghulam Nabi Waseem led a demonstration in downtown Srinagaragainst the visit of the Indian Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyredone more youth at Brinjal Vilgam in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

Rallies and protest demonstrations were also held throughout Azad Kashmirto condemn the massive human right violations by Indian military andparamilitary forces in the occupied valley.

In Muzaffarabad, a protest demonstration organized by Pasban-e-HurriyatJammu and Kashmir and International Forum for Justice and Human Rights washeld at Burhan Muzaffar Wani Shaheed chowk today.

The protesters were holding black flags in their hands, raising vociferousslogans against Indian Prime Minister Narrinder Modi’s visit to theoccupied territory.

Addressing the participants, speakers belonging to different political andsocial organizations urged UN and other international organizations to playtheir due role in resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute.

Later, a protest rally was taken out from Burhan Muzaffar Wani Shaheedchowk which passed through main secretariat road and culminated at AlamdarChowk
