ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need forelevating the relationship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom to astrategic level.
Talking to British High Commissioner to Pakistan Christian Turner inIslamabad on Wednesday, he also stressed for enhancing trade and investmentties between the two countries.
Highlighting the positive bridge-building role played by around 1.6 millionPakistani diaspora residing in UK, the Prime Minister called forstrengthening cooperation in the field of legal migration to fully realizethe potential.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan highly values its relations with the UK, whichare based on historical linkages and convergent interests on a broad rangeof issues.
He also appreciated the work undertaken by the UK in promoting education,health and other social sectors in Pakistan.
The British High Commissioner congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on assuming theoffice of the Prime Minister and conveyed the best wishes of the Britishgovernment.
The British High Commissioner expressed the desire to work closely withPakistan to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation.
