SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, the Acting Chairman of Jammu and KashmirLiberation Front (JKLF), Abdul Hameed Butt, has hailed people of Srinagar,Badgam and Ganderbal for rejecting the so-called elections held for theSrinagar constituency of Indian Parliament.
Over 85 percent of the voters did not cast their vote and even a singlevote was not cast in 90 polling booths.
Abdul Hameed Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar said Srinagar being thecapital of occupied Kashmir has always stood with the resistance leadersand the people have once again displayed their unequivocal support for theKashmir cause.
He said Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been claiming thatKashmiri resistance is confined to two and a half districts of Kashmir onlybut yesterday’s boycott of elections by an overwhelming majority ofKashmiris is a befitting reply to him and should serve as an eye-opener forIndian policy-makers and for the international community as well.
He said although India stepped up its state terrorism in occupied Kashmirenormously in the last few months, banned JKLF like political organizationand arrested the whole resistance leadership, but despite all this peopleof Kashmir rejected Indian hegemony by boycotting the polls and reiteratedthe will and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
