KABUL – Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) has said USsanctions against Iran have slowed down the work process at Chabahar andIran wantsthese limitations removed by gaining support from othercountries.
ACCI’s international relations department head Azarakhsh Hafizi saidcurrently the world’s financial systems willnot even allowthe transfer of $500 million USD that India wants to investin Chabahar.
“Although we can send suggestions to our international partners, we are notsure that such issues against Iran will be resolved. Because thesedecisions are made by the big countries,” said Hafizi.
Chabahar is the closest sea port to landlocked Afghanistan. DespiteAfghanistan and India’s accelerated efforts to develop the port, ACCI saidthe west’s sanctions against Iran has resulted in the shortage ofnecessary infrastructure and services at the port.
