ISLAMABAD: Thousands of Pakistani nationals residing in the United Arab Emirates will soon benefit from convenient access to essential identity document services through a special mobile registration initiative launched by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The program brings NADRA’s Mobile Registration Team directly to the Pakistan Consulate premises, where consular officials collaborate to facilitate immediate processing and issuance of documents.
This outreach addresses long-standing challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis, who often encounter difficulties traveling to permanent NADRA centers located in major cities like Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
The upcoming session is scheduled for Sunday, 22 February 2026, operating from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm local time.
The designated venue is the Pakistan Social Centre, situated near Al Manakh Park in Sharjah.
Applicants can avail a wide range of services during the drive, including issuance of new identity documents such as the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and Smart National Identity Card (SNIC).
Existing records can also be modified, updated, or renewed on the spot, eliminating the need for multiple visits or extended waits.
NADRA’s international operations have expanded significantly in recent years to support the growing Pakistani diaspora, with dedicated facilitation centers already functioning in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Mobile registration drives complement these fixed offices by extending coverage to other emirates and reducing logistical burdens for expatriates.
Similar initiatives have been implemented recently in Ras Al Khaimah, where a comparable mobile team visited on 15 February 2026, allowing residents from neighboring areas to complete urgent documentation tasks.
Such events reflect the government’s commitment to leveraging technology and outreach for efficient public service delivery to citizens abroad.
Overseas Pakistanis form a vital part of the national economy, contributing billions in remittances annually and playing key roles in sectors like construction, healthcare, and trade across the Gulf region.
Timely access to valid identity documents is crucial for them, as these papers are required for employment contracts, banking, property matters, family reunification, and travel back to Pakistan.
Delays in obtaining or renewing NICOP or other records can lead to complications in daily life and professional commitments.
By deploying mobile teams with biometric equipment and secure systems, NADRA ensures that verifications and enrollments meet the same high standards as those at headquarters.
The presence of consular officials during these sessions adds an extra layer of coordination, helping resolve any consular-related queries alongside registration processes.
This integrated approach minimizes confusion and enhances overall efficiency for users.
The Sharjah event follows a pattern of periodic mobile operations across the UAE, responding to community needs and feedback from Pakistani associations.
Authorities encourage eligible individuals to prepare necessary supporting documents in advance, such as passports, previous identity cards, photographs, and proof of residence, to expedite processing.
While walk-ins are generally accommodated, high demand during limited hours may lead to queues, so early arrival is advised.
This initiative underscores NADRA’s ongoing efforts to digitize and decentralize services for overseas citizens, aligning with broader national goals of improving governance and citizen convenience.
As the Pakistani community in the UAE continues to grow, such targeted facilitations help maintain strong ties between expatriates and their homeland.
The drive in Sharjah represents a practical step toward making essential administrative support more accessible and responsive to the realities of life abroad.
