ISLAMABAD – Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem has said that federalgovernment had demanded resignation from Anwar Mansoor.
The law minister said that former Attorney General’s statements do notdepict government’s stance.
A response was submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) by lawsecretary on behalf of Shehzad Akbar and Farogh Naseem.
The response submitted in SC stated that former AGP delivered irresponsiblestatements which do not match with government’s stance in any way.
Farogh Naseem further said that federal government believes in supremacy oflaw and justice.
“The statements of former AGP were quite surprising for the government sowe demanded his resignation,” he said.
Earlier today, Anwar Mansoor decided to step down from his position ofAttorney General of Pakistan, while tendering his resignation to PresidentArif Alvi for approval.
Anwar Mansoor said that he has submitted his resignation on the request ofPakistan Bar Council (PBC).
