NEW DELHI – The Indian government on Monday has imposed National SecurityAct (NSA) for three months as All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB)has announced to hold countrywide strike against Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).
Under the act, New Delhi police will have authority to detain anyonewithout any reason for one year.
On the other hand, nationwide protests are continued against citizenshiplaw passed in December that bars Muslims from a measure grantingnationality to minorities from three neighbouring Islamic-majoritycountries.
Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets across thecountry, and more than 25 people have been killed.
Critics say the legislation goes against India’s secular constitution, butModi says the new law is intended to help “persecuted” minorities.
